Lobster sanctuary

For my industrial coast part of the ‘Establishing image project’I wanted to portray the industrial coast with a bit of a twist to it. I looked out a story about mass scale production with a tie to the sea life. This is where I stumbled across the National lobster hatchery. I found out that when fishermen catch an impregnated lobster they call the hatchery, where they prepare a tank. The mother is then kept in this tank until her young are born and then she is given back to the fisherman who caught her. These young lobsters are then reared to then be released back into the wild.

Big thanks to Sarah Coates for letting me into the hatchery.

Seal sanctuary

This shoot was created for the new project we have been given called ‘The establishing image’with three subjects to cover within this project; community, industrial coast and isolation. For my community shoot I decided to travel over to Qweek to see how seals live within the community of their packs.
I then soon realized that it was with the help of the local community that support the sanctuary by adopting the animals on site.

Many thanks to Lara for letting me visit the sanctuary. More to come this week from the Establishing image project!!
